Description
Future Cop: L.A.P.D. is a third-person shooter and strategy video game developed and published by Electronic Arts. The game was released in 1998 for Microsoft Windows and PlayStation platforms.
The game is set in a futuristic version of Los Angeles in the year 2098. The player takes on the role of a cop piloting a powerful mech called X-1 Alpha, which can transform into a hoverbike for quick travel around the city. The goal of the game is to stop a terrorist group known as the C.A.R.T.E.L. from taking over the city.
The gameplay consists of two main modes: Crime War and Precinct Assault. Crime War mode is a story-driven single-player campaign where the player must complete a series of missions, each with a different objective, such as escorting a VIP, rescuing hostages, or destroying enemy installations.
In Precinct Assault mode, the player competes against another player or the AI in a capture-the-flag style game mode. The player must take control of enemy bases while protecting their own, using a combination of strategy and firepower to defeat the opponent.
The game's graphics and sound effects were considered impressive for its time, and the mix of shooting and strategy elements made it a popular game among fans of both genres. The game's legacy is also notable for its influence on later games in the genre, such as the MechAssault series.

On some rare occasions the music might fail to play and the game could get stuck in the loading screen. When that happens you will need to kill it from task manager. Don't set any compatibility options!

This didn't work for me on WIndows 10, 64-bit home. Loads the intro video, shows the game menu, can play briefing video, too. But when I start a game, after the 'loading in progress' screen is finished, program crashes immediately, and I'm back to desktop. Didn't change a thing about the install and configuration, and didn't add any compatibility settings.
ReplyDeleteI suggest playing the psx version with the duckstation emulator if you really want to play it. for me that has been the best way to play it on pc
