Description
The Serbian ex-soldier Niko Bellic had witnessed the horrors of war, which turned him bitter and cynical. Disappointed by life, he immigrates to the United States, which his cousin Roman enthusiastically describes as a country of wealth and pleasure. However, the reality is quite different: Roman is poor, has no stable job, and owes money to some dubious individuals. As Niko attempts to help his hapless cousin and pave a more secure future for both of them, he becomes more and more involved in the life of crime. A burning desire to find a man who had betrayed him in Serbia forces Niko to make deals with his conscience, and once he crosses the line, there is no way back...
Grand Theft Auto IV is the ninth title and the fourth main game in the Grand Theft Auto series, and also the first for the seventh generation of consoles. Following the tradition of the 3D installments of the series, the game is entirely located in one of the three cities of the original GTA, Liberty City, but now in present time, and with an environment reminiscent of GTA III, though bigger and more detailed. Liberty City is heavily based on New York, where the protagonist has to gain respect, welfare, and power throughout the game.
Like in most GTA games, the city map is gradually uncovered during the course of the game. The player starts in Broker (based on Brooklyn), and, in order to access the other three districts of the city (based on the other major boroughs of New York City), has to make progress in the storyline. The game has the usual structure based on missions. The player can sometimes engage in various missions at the same time and has free access to the non-mission features of the game while being on one.
Most of the usual elements of exploration and interaction with the city are included in GTA IV. Niko can cause mayhem in the city, hijack cars, listen to radio stations, observe the behavior of the citizens, enter thematic buildings, work as a vigilante, taxi driver, or ambulance driver, hire a prostitute, go to a strip club, and so on. Among the new features is the possibility to watch television (with several channels broadcasting various fictional programs) and connect to a fictional Internet, with functional websites (mostly of a humorous nature) created specifically for the game, and an e-mail program. Other additions include looking for criminals in the police department database from a police car, hiring taxi cabs to safely travel to selected destinations, extensive usage of the mobile phone, improved A.I. of the pedestrians, and others.
Some features from the previous games are missing, such as drivable airplanes and a few other vehicle types. Niko retains the ability to swim and engage in romantic relationships with female characters, features first introduced in San Andreas. However, the light role-playing elements (training to increase stamina, eating, etc.) from the previous entry have been removed.
GTA IV focuses on third-person shooter gameplay more than the previous installments; most of the missions have larger portions dedicated to on-foot navigation and shooting. Crouching, leaning and taking cover play a more important role in combat. Hand-to-hand combat has also been re-designed, Niko being able to execute more precise moves.
The game uses the euphoria motion engine, an alternate middleware solution much like ragdoll physics, which makes all people in the game world move realistically depending on the situation around them. For example, every time Niko enters a car, a different animation will be generated depending on his position relative to the car.
A new feature compared to its predecessors is multiplayer. The same free-roaming environment is offered for up to 16 players (32 in the Windows version) in 15 modes. Certain modes narrow down the environment to make sure players remain somewhat in each other's vicinity. Compared to the console releases, the Windows release features high-resolution graphics, a video editor to capture and edit in-game footage, and the possibility to customize the radio station Independence FM with its own songs.
The Lost and Damned is the first expansion pack for Grand Theft Auto IV. It has been made available as DLC (downloadable content) and requires the original game to play.
Set in Liberty City, just like the original game, there is a new storyline with a new protagonist, Johnny Klebitz. He is vice-president of the biker gang The Lost Motorcycle Club. While the president Billy Grey is in rehab, he takes over and tries to work out deals with the other gangs. When Grey eventually returns he resorts to his violent tactics, making it difficult to keep it running. Billy and Johnny clash for the leadership, while dealing with the other gangs, especially Angels of Death. The original game is not ignored however, as Niko Bellic not only appears in the game, but even becomes an important part of the storyline. Parts of the actions in the game are also influenced by the events in the original game, suggesting that both stories happen around the same time.
The game starts in a club house in Alderney, in the Western part of the city where Niko only got access late in the game. The entire city is available at once. Contrary to the first game and in the spirit of the biker gang Johnny's in, there is much more focus on team work with the other members. Their health bars are also shown on the screen. When a member dies in action, he needs to be replaced by a less experienced youngster, making it harder to progress and encouraging the player to look after his peers. There are also strict rules in the gang, especially when riding around in a set formation is required. Members can be called to provide weapons and stealing other vehicles is less encouraged. Johnny starts on a custom bike that is virtually indestructible, though it can be replaced. Most of the new vehicles are bikes, but there are also a few new trucks and vans.
The clubhouse offers new minigames such as arm wrestling, pool and card games. There are new sites on the internet, new TV shows and three new radio stations with a focus on hard rock. Next to the regular storyline there are challenges based on racing or gang wars. The new weapons are a grenade launcher, an assault shotgun, a pool cue, a pipe bomb and an automatic 9mm.
Six new multiplayer modes are introduced: races, club business, lone wolf biker (Full Throttle and Chopper Vs. Chopper), witness protection, and gang war.
The Ballad of Gay Tony is the second and final expansion pack for Grand Theft Auto IV. It is made available as DLC (downloadable content) and requires the original game to play.
The story is centered around a new character, Luis Fernando Lopez, who is part of a ring of Dominican drug dealers. He is also the bodyguard of Anthony "Gay Tony" Prince. The game introduces a lot of glitter, with an eccentric storyline and many sports cars, including the return of the familiar Bullet. Other additions include new aircraft and a parachute (previously featured in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas). New activities are a driving range (golf), and various drinking- and dancing-based mini-games in the many nightclubs. Multiplayer includes updated game modes and adds a BASE jumping multiplayer competition. The game starts with Luis Fernando Lopez held hostage during a bank robbery that involves Niko Bellic from the original game. From there, a large plot unfolds that involves the survival of the night clubs, a set of stolen diamonds, drugs abuse and various gangs.
Through this expansion players can replay previously completed missions with a scoring system, similar to Manhunt and the Hitman series, and this feature was previously introduced in the GTA series in Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars.

Repack Notes
- Complete Edition with both Episodes from Liberty City, v1.2.0.43, repack based out of FitGirl's repack (credits to FitGirl), with additional touch from MagiPack Games
- By default the game has the downgraded radio stations with the old Vladivostok.FM (ahh sweet old Vladivostok.FM!), with disabled EFLC tracks in the original GTA IV, since the Steam version of the Complete Edition uses modern music because of expired licenses
New stations can be enabled inside gamedir by executing one of the following batch scripts:
"Downgraded Stations with new Vladivostok.FM.bat"
"Downgraded Stations with old Vladivostok.FM.bat" (default after installation)
"Modern Stations with new Vladivostok.FM.bat"
"Modern Stations with old Vladivostok.FM.bat"
"Enable EFLC tracks in original GTA 4.bat"
"Disable EFLC tracks in original GTA 4.bat" (default after installation)
- The game runs with DXVK v2.2 (d3d9.dll & dxgi.dll), previously textures were randomly disappearing and reappearing on max settings without DXVK as well as it had a very poor performance (it is a poorly ported PC game anyway so don't expect magic)
Make sure that your graphics card AND video driver supports Vulkan! Otherwise the game will not work at all. Any new graphics hardware supports it
- FusionFix v1.51 with a framecap of 60FPS (the game needs to be limited to 60FPS otherwise it is choppy at times and buggy in various missions)
- ColAccel v1.5 for faster loading screens
- No restrictions in the graphics settings
- AMD/ATI Radeon Water Fix
- Multilanguage support upon installation (text only)
- Tested OK on Windows 10 with Ryzen 7 5800H/RTX 3060 6GB/64GB DDR4 & max settings, the game is not compatible with Windows XP
Repack v2 changelog:
- Updated FusionFix to v1.77
- Added "-availablevidmem 30517" to the commandline, this will fool the game that your graphics card has 30GB of video memory, because on some instances it wasn't detecting the proper memory. In reality it doesn't use more than 2GB at max settings
- Added optional 100% completed game saves for all 3 games
Repack v3 changelog:
- The repack has been completely redone with a clean Steam version 1.2.0.59 from cs.rin.ru (kudos guys & gals!)
The radio stations & the commandline.txt options are just like before, don't worry
- Updated DXVK to v2.3 with now the option to include or exclude it from the installation since not all hardware supports Vulkan
- Updated FusionFix to v2.2 (the repack will also copy Social Club files into Program Files (x86)\Rockstar Games\Social Club because ThirteenAG fucked up since FusionFix v2.0, there won't be any registry entries for the SC though)
Please don't uncap the framerate from 60FPS!
- Removed ColAccel because it could cause some bugs at a later stage
Repack v4 changelog:
- Completely redone (yet again) with the Razor1911 v1.2.0.59 release (no Razor intro), no Goldberg steam emulators & no extra SocialClub crap
Old saves are compatible with this release, however they are stored in a new location: %AppData%\.1911\GTA IV\profile, previously they were in %AppData%\Goldberg SocialClub Emu Saves\GTA IV\0F74F4C4
Where %AppData% is specified, it means C:\Users\YOU\AppData\Roaming
- Updated FusionFix to v2.5.3
- Updated the Vulkan/DXVK component in the installer, now you can choose to install DXVK v1.10.3 since it supports Vulkan v1.1 and v1.2, for Vulkan v1.3 or newer choose DXVK v2.3! Use AIDA64 to determine which version your hardware supports (AIDA64 -> Display -> Vulkan -> API Version)
- Added Console Visuals v1.5 (optional)
- Added Various Fixes v1.81
- Added Project2DFX (Optional, improved lighting distance/LODs, might affect game performance!)
- Added Xbox rain droplets (Optional, when engaging with water, water droplets are seen on the screen for a short period of time)
- Moved the batch scripts for changing the radio stations in gamedir\Stations folder, remember that this repack comes with the downgraded old Vladivostok.FM and disabled EFLC tracks in the original GTAIV game, you can change that in gamedir\Stations by executing one of the batch scripts
Repack v5 changelog:
- Updated FusionFix to v2.5.6 (the Ultimate ASI Loader has been updated to v7.2.0 as well)
- Updated DXVK to v2.3.1
- Updated Console Visuals to v1.6
- Updated Xbox Rain Droplets to the April 5th, 2024 version
Repack v6 changelog:
- Updated Console Visuals to v1.7.1
- Updated DXVK to v2.4
- Updated FusionFix to v3.0.1
- Updated Project2DFX to the June 28th, 2024 version
- Updated Various Fixes to v1.90
- Updated Xbox Rain Droplets to the July 17th, 2024 version
Remember to uninstall the previous repack if you have it with a dedicated software uninstaller such as Revo Uninstaller! Backup your saves first from the specified location above

DeleteHi, the game keeps crashing when I start a new game? I've ran this game on my machine before (albeit poorly) so I'm not too sure how to fix it.
ReplyDeleteTry updating to the latest FusionFix from here https://github.com/ThirteenAG/GTAIV.EFLC.FusionFix/releases/ extract the contents to the gamedir and overwrite all files. Although the current repack v4 works fine for me no crashes
