Tank Racer

Description

Tank Racer is a 3D action racing computer and video game developed by the Glass Ghost team at Simis and published by Grolier Interactive, copyrighted in 1998 and released on March 30 1999.

There are four different play modes to choose from: Cup Mode, Single Race Mode, Multi-player Battle Mode, and Multi-player Racing Mode.

In Cup Mode the player’s aim is to win all three “cups” in the World Tank Racing Championship (WTRC). Each cup has its own four tanks for the player to choose from, and one secret tank that is unlocked upon completion of the cup (making a total of 15 playable tanks in the game). There are 8 different tracks, although some of them are reused meaning there are a total of 15 races.

Upon completion of each cup, “bonuses” are unlocked. These include three tanks, a music player (which lets the player choose any of the songs from the soundtrack to listen to), the ability to re-watch the ‘outro’ videos for each cup, special game settings (which includes ‘overhead view’, ‘dual control’, a ‘hover tank’, the option to change the sound effects to ‘human voices’ and ‘guitar squeal’) and three ‘secret’ mini arcade games (a one or two-player Pong clone with tanks called “Ping”; a one-player top-down view maze tank game called “Tank 2001”, the name of which might allude to the Arcadia 2001 game console; and a one-player Asteroids clone, called “Space Tank”, again with a tank). …

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six 2 – Rogue Spear

Description

Following the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, the economic situation in Russia and the former Eastern Europe falls into chaos. Terrorism in the region is commonplace as people fight a seemingly endless stream of battles for supplies and other necessities. In this power vacuum though a dangerous a situation arises: the Russian mafia has begun buying up surplus military equipment with the assistance of current members of the Russian Army. During one such arms deal Rainbow forces raid the meeting grounds and recover weapons grade plutonium, tracing the missile material to an Arctic naval base. As it turns out, one boss in the Oil Mafia has been supplying arms and intel to various small-time terrorist groups whose international attacks Rainbow has had to deal with: A hostage situation at the Met in New York City, the attempted bombing of a tanker in the Sea of Japan, an airline hijacking in Brussels, and the neofascist takeover of a London TV station. But after the hijacking, an anonymous informant who has seen that this terror campaign has gone too far supplies information to Rainbow on who’s behind the attacks and where his men will strike next.

A subsequent investigation reveals that the plutonium deals are part of a plan between a Russian organized crime boss named Maxim Kutkin and Azeri arms dealer Samed Vezirzade. These two men intend to use the plutonium purchased from the military to create suitcase sized nuclear weapons through the use of abandoned Russian military facilities, then distribute these weapons to terrorists on the black market. To prevent any instance of nuclear terrorism, Rainbow mobilizes against both parties, raiding the nuclear weapons production facility and intercepting two separate meetings between the mob and potential buyers with the aid of a dissident group of the Russian mob. …

Sega Rally Championship 2

Description

Sega Rally 2 is the sequel to Sega’s hit arcade game, Sega Rally. This game, like it’s predecessor, is based on Rally racing. Rally racing is unique in that races take place on both race tracks and off-road courses. The courses in this game reflect this nicely. Some take place in the desert or forest, others take place in cities.

The cars in this game are all actual rally cars, with manufacturers from Europe and Japan both well represented. You do not get to see very many of them at one time, however, since rally races are typically time-based events. In this game, you are not competing directly against the other cars, you simply have to have the best time through the course. So, during any race you will usually see a handful of other cars on the track. …

Chicken Invaders

Description

After centuries of human oppression the chickens have had enough. With the aid of kin from another galaxy, they have begun attacking Earth’s defenses with millions of dropped eggs and asteroids. You, as the pilot who just wants to get a hamburger, are Earth’s final hope for survival.

Chicken Invaders is the first part of a series of Space Invaders parodies where you control a space-ship while facing waves of asteroids and space chickens. Your movements are limited to a horizontal plane but are armed with a blaster which you can use to shoot the enemies. You can upgrade your weapons to spread or to missiles by simply getting enough points or by collecting the gift boxes the occasional chicken will drop.

Your enemies are the waves of chickens who move in patterns down the screen and shoot eggs at you. Coming into contact with them will also be detrimental to your survival. Accompanying the chickens are asteroids which in one wave go slowly diagonally across the screen and asteroids which plummet quickly down. All can be blasted given that they’re shot enough. …

South Park

Description

A comet is heading toward South Park, causing many of the enemies from early seasons of the shows (including cows, aliens, and clones) to rise up and attack. The player takes control of Kyle, Cartman, Kenny and Stan to fight through the town in a first-person perspective. Features new dialogue from the original voice actors on the show.

Single player takes the form of a “Story” mode divided into five episodes and fifteen linear levels. The player will face weak minions (which change based on the episode), plus occasional sub-bosses which will try to escape into town. The final level is devoted to a unique boss fight. Players use quirky weapons ranging from infinite yellow snowballs to cow launchers and toxic Terrance and Phillip dolls. Every weapon has a secondary fire, and players switch between the four main characters when they switch weapons – each of the four kids shares a single life bar because of this. The kids will comment on game actions as they occur, with heavier profanity censored with bleeps. The kids will get angrier (and fouler) as their health depletes, until they finally give up on saving the town and go home. …
