Legacy of Kain – Soul Reaver

Description

One thousand five hundred years after the events of Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain, the vampire Kain’s decision at the end of that game has finally defeated the human kingdoms and brought the world of Nosgoth under his control. Ruling from a castle built on the Pillars of Nosgoth, Kain has established an empire of six vampire clans, each ruled by a lieutenant, the sons of Kain. Raziel was one such lieutenant but lost his position through the insolence of receiving a new evolutionary “dark gift”, the growth of feathery wings before his master had acquired it. Fearing that Raziel might one day surpass him, Kain tears off Raziel’s wings in a fit of rage and banishes him into the Abyss. There, Raziel is lost in time, dead and his body consumed. The Elder God recovers Raziel’s soul and rebuilds the broken body, not as a living vampire, but as a strange new creature of the underworld. Swearing revenge on Kain, Raziel now phases seamlessly between Nosgoth and its underworld, using his new powers to become a terrible reaver of souls…

Soul Reaver is a third-person perspective action game with puzzle-solving and some platforming elements. The game follows Raziel on his quest to purge the land of vampires and take revenge on Kain and his brothers, leaders of the six clans. The player views the environment from behind Raziel’s shoulder, moving him in any direction, climbing, attacking, jumping, and using specific abilities. Raziel can grip onto the edge of ledges and his torn wings allow him to glide gently downwards. He can also shift through the material world into the spectral realm at will but must find specific locations in order to shift back. The two realms mirror one another, with distortions which give access to new areas and platforms. Existing in the material world drains Raziel’s life energy at a constant rate. …

Discworld Noir

Description

Ankh-Morpork is a city surrounded by darkness, where the cold river Ankh flows, where it always rains, and where dwarves and trolls co-exist with secret societies, religious fanatics, stupid police captains, and bar pianists. It is also where a bitterly sarcastic sharp-eyed private investigator named Lewton tries to earn a living solving bizarre cases. A mysterious woman named Carlotta hires him to find her lost lover. Wandering through the dark city and gathering evidence, Lewton has to solve the case, confront a sinister conspiracy, and once again become torn between love and despair.

Discworld Noir differs from other Discworld adventure games not only thanks to its more serious tone and much darker “film noir” atmosphere, but also because of its gameplay. Instead of inventory-based puzzles there are clues, which Lewton writes down in his notebook and which should be then used whenever there is a connection between the clue and the situation in question. Most of the gameplay is thus dedicated to detective work in conversations; but the usage of the right clues at the right place is still comparable to inventory-based puzzle-solving of other adventures. Graphically, Discword Noir features three-dimensional character models and pre-rendered backgrounds. …

Demolition Racer

Description

Demolition Racer is a racing game with a twist. Rather than a game that just requires you to try and win the race, this game gives you points to destroy the other racers’ cars. The game has many styles of game play so you don’t have to play the same style each game.

There are 5 game styles in the Single Race section of the game. This section does not count towards unlocking cars or tracks. It is for practice and just plain fun. The main style is Demolition.

In Demolition, you race against other cars around the track and get points for hitting them, spinning them in circles and knocking them into the wall. You also get a big bonus for landing on top of a car which will immediately destroy the car. When you finish the race, your final position is found by multiplying the points you got from hitting the other cars with the points that you got for the position you finished in. So if you finish first, but never hit anyone, you won’t win the race. …

Civilization II – Test of Time

Description

Civilization II: Test of Time, released in 1999, is a turn-based strategy game similar to the best selling game Civilization II. Test of Time’s central innovation was the addition of multiple maps and the inclusion of two campaigns concerning science fiction and fantasy themes.
Test of Time includes an exact replica of the old Civilization II campaign, with only a few minor changes. Cosmetically, however, it looks quite different, with all-new art and animated units. Test of Time also offers the option to undertake the Extended Original campaign, which is identical to the Original except that the “pink” slot for a civilization is occupied by aliens on Alpha Centauri. When one builds the Alpha Centauri spaceship, instead of ending the game, it unlocks a secondary tech tree and allows the player to battle the Centaurians.

There is also a Fantasy game (along with a more detailed Midgard Scenario), along with a whole new tech tree. You can play as either the Buteos (bird people), Merfolk, Goblins, Stygian (undead), Elves, Human, or Infidels. There are four map layers of the word: sky, surface, underwater, and underground. …

Commandos – Beyond the Call of Duty

Description

Commandos: Beyond the Call of Duty is a standalone mission pack for Commandos: Behind Enemy Lines. All six commandos from the original game are back, and have some new weapons and abilities at their disposal. The most prominent addition are the new non-lethal weapons (chloroform for the Spy, fists for the Green Beret, the club for the Driver etc.), which give players the ability to silently, but temporarily disable enemy guards. The Green Beret and the Spy can cuff unconscious enemies to immobilize them, and the Spy can even steal their uniforms. All commandos can control captured guards and use them as a distraction while keeping them at gunpoint, but the guards must not leave the controlling commando’s field of view, else they will flee and raise the alarm.

Eight new and difficult missions are featured, taking place between 1940 and 1945 in various locations in Nazi-occupied Europe. The mission maps are even more detailed than in the original game, and leave little space for error. There are some mission-specific controllable characters as well (Yugoslav partisan Dragiša Skopje and Ukrainian spy Natasha). …
