Description

As the first Rugby title on the PlayStation 2, EA Sports Rugby is a full on simulation of the sport (played mainly in Europe, Australasia and Africa). All of the major nations of rugby are represented, including Australia (the current World Cup champions), New Zealand, England, France and South Africa. The game is also fully licensed with every player of every team rendered into the game.

There are many trophies to be won, here’s a quick run down:

– World Cup: much the same as the football variety, the best in the world fight to become world champions
– 6 Nations: only 6 nations are represented in this European tournament to play as: Scotland, England, Wales, Ireland, France and Italy
– Tri-Nations: Australia, New Zealand and South Africa play in this tournament
– Bledisloe Cup: it’s Australia vs New Zealand, in a best of three tournament

Cricket 2000

Description

Cricket 2000 is a cricket game featuring 3D graphics, with all 11 men on the field rendered fully in 3D. Available playing modes are the World Cup and a super six competition.

The game features motion-captured player moves, original player stats and 14 different national teams including Bangladesh and Scotland. The batsman can play any shot in the book. The game features play-by-play commentary from cricket legends Richie Benaud and David Gower, and there are also night matches. …

Renegade Racers

Description

A cart racer whose premise is to win a tournament sponsored by millionaire Buck Billionaire. The player selects from a series of renegades and goes at it.

Gameplay modes available include two player vs. gameplay, the mission-based tournament which has over 40 races that take place in 6 tracks, and have different objectives such as jump over a certain number of obstacles, win in a certain time bracket, etc., as well as the time-honored battle races we have come to expect from Kart racers with all manner of power-ups and wacky weapons.

Vehicles are all hovercrafts, so the control is the same no matter if the player races on ice, grass, etc., and graphics-wise the game uses Direct 3D accelerated polygonal graphics. …

Frogger 2 – Swampy’s Revenge

Description

Swampy, a crocodile whom Frogger jumped on in the past, gets revenge on Frogger by stealing the many baby frog siblings of his girlfriend, Lillie Frog. Frogger and Lillie pursue Swampy through various worlds rescuing the baby frogs along the way. Swampy travels to space, where he uses a satellite to broadcast a commercial for his own game, Swampy: The Game. Frogger follows in a rocket that Lillie manages to activate, and corners Swampy in a space station, where a device transports them back to Earth during Halloween. Swampy attempts to create his game in a factory under a haunted house, by using the baby frogs. Frogger and Lillie attempt to stop him, but end up trapped in a cage being lowered towards a pit full of magma. Swampy’s plan goes errant after one of the baby frogs, named Tad, escapes the conveyor belt and starts playing on the controls, in the process freeing Frogger and Lillie, releasing the other baby frogs, and severely damaging the machine, quickly building up into an earthquake. After the frogs escape, the factory and mansion explode from the malfunctioning machine, and Swampy is flung off into the distance. …

Shogun – Total War

Description

Shogun: Total War is a real-time strategy game in which you play as a Daimyo, one of the warlords battling for the right to be called Shogun, ruler of a united Japan. The game is roughly split into two sections: a map-based planning stage and a 3D battle stage.

The map stage is where you build buildings in the territories that you own, organize forces, plan campaigns and generally deal with the running of your conquests. You can also research new technologies and train troops here, so it is very important.

When a conflict arises, you turn to the battle stage. Unlike almost all other real-time strategy games, Shogun’s battles take place on a 3D battlefield with realistic terrain. Hills roll gently into the distance, scattered trees break up the horizon and your troops lie dead in a pile on the floor. Because in Shogun your men don’t just disappear when they die, they lie there, bleeding. Up to 6 armies, each containing thousands of troops, can be displayed on screen at the same time. You can zoom in to individual companies of 100 (the smallest unit) or zoom out to view the battlefield as a whole. …

Beetle Crazy Cup

Description

The player begins the game with a standard 1960s Volkswagen Beetle; additional vehicles become available after the player wins races and earns points. The game features 20 race tracks that include environmental elements such as rain and bright sunshine, and includes 17 vehicles that come in more than 50 different styles. In addition to original and New Beetles, the game also features the Volkswagen Karmann Ghia, the Volkswagen Thing and Volkswagen buses as playable vehicles. The game includes three gameplay modes: Quick Race, Championship, and Beetle Challenge. Each mode is further divided into five racing modes, known as events, that vary the gameplay:

– Buggy: a beach race in which the player must avoid wet sand.
– Cross: a stadium with a dirt track consisting of dunes and slopes.
– Jump: a track in which the player uses “nitro boosters” to achieve a large jump.
– Monster: a track filled with obstacles in which the player’s vehicle is transformed into a monster vehicle with four large tires. The player must smash other vehicles and cause destruction within a time limit, while avoiding traffic cones.
– Speed: a street race on a two-lane highway with no nitrous boosters or large obstacles.

Earthworm Jim 3D

Description

Earthworm Jim is hit by a flying cow that sends him into a coma. Jim awakens within his own subconscious and discovers he has gone insane. His past villains have entered his subconscious and if something doesn’t happen soon, Jim will be in the coma forever. His super ego has been unleashed within his subconscious to stop the madness. To restore his sanity he must find the Golden Udders of lucidity. When Jim enters his subconscious, he finds out that his four mind chambers have been taken over by his worst fears. He must collect Golden Udders to unlock the other three chambers and Green Marbles to unlock the levels within the chamber. Jim defeats four villains who took over his mind chambers, and finally faces the personification of his trauma: Earthworm Kim. …
