BlackSite – Area 51

Description

It was supposed to be a routine mission three years ago. Enter a bunker deep inside Iraq-territory, retrieve a chemical weapon and get out. But inside the complex was no chemical weapon. Instead you encounter mutated humans and other strange creatures. With one man down you escape that hell and move on.

Now you are called to Nevada because something terrible happened there (see Area-51) and it affected the nearby city. But you soon realize, that all this has something to do with what you encountered inside the bunker three years ago.

The game is a pretty straight-forward first person shooter. You move through the levels, kill everything that moves and fulfil your objectives. To aid you in that task, you’ve a squad full of people under your command. With the help of cursor-sensitive commands you order them around and let them man a stationary MG for example. But there are also marked points in the levels at which your squad will perform scripted tasks like a door breach. …

Gears of War

Description

Gears of War is a tactical third-person shooter where the player controls Marcus Fenix, a member of Delta Squad, to save the human inhabitants of the fictional planet Sera from an enemy known as The Locust Horde. The story, played over 5 acts with 30 chapters in total, has the humans reunite their strength after fighting over cheap energy in the Pendulum Wars for many years, to face this new alien threat.

Unlike many other shooters, the emphasis is not on brute violence, but rather team-based actions and cover-dependent tactics. Gameplay requires looking for cover options all the time, from which the player then attacks, along with turns and rolls to quickly pop out. By holding a button, a “roadie run” is performed, to sprint to another location. Marcus is part of a full squad, but another human player can take on the role of Dominic Santiago to fight cooperatively (split-screen, system link, or online). At times, the paths will even be split up to face different challenges. Players can only hold two weapons, a sidearm, and a few grenades. There is a selection of submachine guns, sniper and assault rifles, grenades, grenade launchers, and pistols, but the main gun is the COG Lancer Assault Rifle, which can also be used as a chainsaw bayonet in close combat. There are also a few exotic weapons, such as the Torque Bow with explosive arrows, or the Hammer of Dawn, to make an orbiting satellite fire a laser at targeted enemies. …

The player’s main goal in this game is to become the “King of the street”. Nothing new. However, there are no more illegal races in the game – all of the available races are sponsored, and the action takes place on different racing tracks. No more traffic, no more in-town driving.

The game features 2 gameplay modes. Career (you start your “life” as a lowlife race driver and over time you will conquer everyone) and free play (where you can race unlocked cars and unlocked tracks). …

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon – Advanced Warfighter 2

Description

Not even a day has fully passed since you rescued the US president from Mexican soil and you and the rest of your Ghost team are on the way home, when the General phones in and gives you your next mission: a group of terrorists deposited two dirty bombs (normal blasting compositions combined with radioactive material) near the city of Juarez. Your goal as Captain Mitchell is to once again save the day with your three teammates.

Like in the predecessor Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter, you control Captain Mitchell and see everything through his eyes while you command your teammates, either directly over the Cross-Com or with the help of the tactical map, through the various environments to fulfil your objectives, like blowing up a bunch of anti-air vehicles and then raiding a rebel outpost. …
