Gex

Description

Gex, a young anthropomorphic gecko, lives by himself watching television and eating snacks in his mansion in Maui, Hawaii, which he acquired after inheriting a large sum of money following the death of his great uncle. While looking for a good show to watch after doing some “nude funkercising”, he consumes a passing house fly. This house fly turns out to be a small undercover drone being controlled by Rez, the overlord of the Media Dimension. Rez uses the droid to “bug” Gex, and pulls him into the Media Dimension through the TV set, intending to use him as the network’s new mascot character. In order to escape, Gex needs to traverse the Media Dimension and find remote controls which he could use to destroy the TV sets blockading his exit back to the outside world.

Gex fights his way through the Media Dimension, finding remotes, and defeating Rez’ henchmen along the way, before eventually defeating Rez himself using some of the tyrant’s own drones against him. Upon returning home, Gex resumes watching his TV, wondering what was on HBO. …

Blackthorne (Blackhawk)

Description

The planet Tuul was a peaceful place, until the evil warrior Sarlac used the power of the Darkstone to take control. Kyle Blackthorne’s father, the good King Vlaros, sent him to Earth just as his kingdom crumbled around him. Now, twenty years later, Kyle is grown and must return to Tuul to free it from the clutches of Sarlac.

Blackthorne is a platform action game played from a side-view with non-scrolling backgrounds. It has certain similarities to Prince of Persia, being set in maze-like environments and focusing on exploration and occasional puzzle-solving. Kyle Blackthorne fights enemies by shooting at them. His default weapon, a pump action shotgun, can be upgraded throughout the course of the game. Various types of bombs can be used to damage enemies, blow open doors, or destroy generators. Keys must be found to gain access to new areas. …

Blast Thru

Description

Blast Thru is an arcade Breakout game. It features a campaign with forty levels where blocks need to be cleared by hitting them with the ball to progress to the next level. You have the aid of power-ups (some with a positive effect and others with a negative effect). As you progress through the levels, you keep on gaining more and more points until finally, when you die you can save your final score into the Hall of Scores (the top twenty scores are shown). The game features a level editor, which has the ability to build any kind of level featuring all the tile sets that are featured in the campaign. The last game feature is the ability to play against other people (up to eight others and on the same computer), in which you play the campaign. Once you die the campaign resets and starts all over again for the second player. At the end (once all players have finished their campaign), it shows all high scores and whoever obtained the highest score wins. …

Duke Nukem 2

Description

Duke Nukem II is a platform game and a sequel to Duke Nukem. While giving an interview on TV, the famous muscular hero Duke Nukem is captured by the evil Rigelatins, who intend to use his brain for conquering Earth. Duke easily escapes his prison cell.

Now he has to make his way through four episodes, each one consisting of an assortment of levels with varying graphic design. On his way, Duke has to destroy lots of obstacles and enemies – both Rigelatin forces and apparent local wildlife. Initially, Duke has just a weak laser rifle, but he can also find a flamethrower (which allows him to shoot down to launch himself in the air), a rocket launcher or a far more powerful laser cannon. These stronger weapons, however, have limited ammo. …

Captain Claw

Description

Captain Claw, also called “The Surveyor of the Seven Seas”, is an infamous and successful pirate. The feats of Nathaniel Joseph Claw are legendary as is his ability to slip out of situations and find treasure. Frustrated, the Cocker-Spaniard Kingdom issues a gigantic reward of one million gold pieces for the Captain’s capture. This attracts legions of bounty hunters to Claw’s tail, and eventually he is captured by Captain Le Reux and imprisoned at La Roca. However, even in prison, Claw’s luck continues to work, as he stumbles across an old letter from Edward Tobin containing the location of the “Amulet of Nine Lives”, a mystical item said to grant near-immortality. Inspired by this new challenge, Captain Claw manages to break out of his prison cell and embarks on a perilous journey.

Claw is a side-scrolling platform game in which the player must complete a linear set of stages, some of which culminate with boss battles. Environments include indoor and outdoor areas – city streets, forest, a large ship, underwater, and others. Each stage has two save points. Claw can move left and right, jump and stab his sword directly in front of him. His offensive arsenal includes, beside the sword, a pistol with expendable ammunition, dynamite bombs, and a special ability called “Magic Claw”, which allows the feline hero to hurl projectiles at the enemies. Many hazards await the Captain on his journey, including traps, spikes sticking out from the floor, bottomless pits, and others. Overcoming these hazards often requires the player to time the protagonist’s jumps, hop on moving or disappearing platforms, swing on vines and ropes, etc. …

Duke Nukem – Manhattan Project

Description

Duke Nukem returns in a new adventure in a third-person platform game which hearkens back to the days of the original Duke Nukem platformers, but this time with a 3D game engine. The story takes place in New York City, where Duke battles his way across towering skyscraper rooftops and through gritty subway stations on the hunt for power-hungry villain, Mech Morphix. Mutants of every kind are thrown at Duke as he chases down Morphix through eight large stages and avoids the green slime called GLOPP that is causing all the chaos.

There are over 25 different enemies Duke has to face such as Uzi-sporting alligators, ten-foot tall roach beasts, Fem-mechs (Female mutant robots with deadly whips) and the classic Pig Cop – all while spouting off his sarcastic one-liners and saving babes. There are nine weapons to choose from, such as the Golden Desert Eagle Pistol, pipe bombs, a machine gun, a rocket launcher, a pulse cannon, and others. …
