Alone in the Dark 2

Description

In Alone in the Dark 2, you take the role of detective Edward Carnby, one of the two main characters in the original Alone in the Dark. Carnby is now called upon to investigate a bootlegger named One Eyed Jack after an old detective colleague named Stryker attributes Jack to the kidnapping of young Grace Saunders. Stryker attempts to infiltrate Jack’s dilapidated mansion of Hell’s Kitchen and rescue the girl, only to disappear himself. That’s where Carnby comes in.

Carnby soon learns that Jack and his gangsters are really 15th-century pirates who gained immortality after Jack joined forces with Elizabeth Jarret, a Voodoo witch. However, the dark magic which keeps them immortal also requires Jack and his crew to regularly make human sacrifices (which explains Grace’s kidnapping).

Now Carnby must battle his way through Hell’s Kitchen and Jack’s army of Tommy-gun-wielding gangsters, searching for a way to break the spell and make them stay dead. …

Alone in the Dark 3

Description

After surviving through two encounters with the supernatural in Derceto and Hell’s Kitchen, detective Edward Carnby is ready for another round of being Alone in the Dark.

In the third game in the series, we learn that Emily Hartwood (the other main character from the original game) started a career in Hollywood movies after surviving her ordeal in Derceto. Her latest project is a spaghetti western being filmed in an abandoned western ghost town called Slaughter Gultch, which rests precariously on the edge of the San Andreas fault. Originally a gold town set up rather rudely on ancient Indian sacred ground, Slaughter Gultch was founded by a man named Jebediah Stone and run by his own private army of cold-blooded killers. Stone and his men were killed by angry villagers led by the local Blacksmith, and the town was abandoned soon after. Unfortunately, Emily’s crew disturbs the spirits of Stone and his men, who promptly return to the world of the living and proceed to kill off the film crew one by one.

Carnby is called to Slaughter Gultch after learning of the disappearance of Emily and her crew, and is soon met by Stone’s Zombie Cowboy gang. Armed with various western paraphenalia such as colt peacemakers, bullwhips, and even a gatling gun, Carnby must fight his way through Stone’s minions and discover Emily’s fate. Along the way he learns some surprising things about Stone’s origin, as well as a sinister plan interrupted by his death which involved the destruction of the west coast and which Stone can now pursue once again. …

Eragon

Description

While hunting in The Spine, 15-year-old Eragon finds a mysterious blue stone. He keeps it, thinking that it can be sold or bartered. However, the stone is actually a dragon egg. Eragon names the dragon Saphira from the list of dragon names he heard from the storyteller Brom. Saphira’s hatching attracts the attention of the cruel king Galbatorix. The king dispatches servants to Eragon’s village to find the dragon. They are unsuccessful and Eragon’s uncle is killed and his home burned down. Brom, whom Eragon considers as nothing more than an old storyteller, helps him fight his way out of the village. He then gives Eragon an old sword, known as Zar’roc in the book series.

Eragon and Saphira make their way to Daret, where they are attacked in the docks. They find the rest of the town on fire and hold off a swarm of the king’s servants as the villagers try to put out these fires. After leaving Daret the three are pursued by a group of Ra’zac. The group are caught in an ambush: Saphira becomes trapped under debris and Eragon must both try to free her and hold off the Ra’zac. After defeating the nearby enemies, the group make their way to Gil’ead, where Eragon and Brom sneak through the city and keep to try and free Arya. After a lengthy battle through Durza’s fortress, Eragon meets Arya and Murtagh, who now join the group. This helps alleviate the mournful situation when Brom jumps in the way of a spear intended to kill Eragon and is fatally injured and dies. …

Pink Panther – Pinkadelic Pursuit

Description

One Christmas day, Pink Panther is heading toward the mansion of his late uncle. It is said that there is a treasure hidden somewhere in the mansion. As the inheritor of the mansion, Pink set out to find the treasure as soon as he steps into the mansion. He soon finds out that the treasure is locked inside a safe; the keys of which can be obtained by exploring the “rooms” (probably the places/enemies that Uncle Pink previously explored/defeated) in the mansion. Now it up to Pink Panther to retrieve all the keys to the treasure!

The main objective of all the levels in the game (except the final level) is to collect the key hidden in each level and get to the goal to proceed to the next level. There are a total of 12 “rooms” (levels) within 3 game modes: platform, race and boss fight. Most levels are in platform mode. In platform mode, the key is guarded by a certain character in a certain place. The way to that place is not straightforward: there are plenty more characters blocking the ways each time players proceed. The only way to proceed is to do the suitable exchanges with these characters (what they need will be displayed in the thought bubbles when players come near them). Very often the object a character needs is also the one another has, so stealing and chasing are essential parts of this mode. Hiding spots are provided for players for convenience during chase sequences. …

Descent

Description

The Post-Terran Minerals Corporation (PTMC) digs up minerals on all nine planets of the solar system, employing humans and robots to do its job. Unfortunately, the mining robots are now being controlled by a hacker, and have taken the human workers hostage. The PTMC has tried to get the robots back under their control, but communication with the mining stations has been lost. In desperation, the PTMC modifies a Pyro-GX ship for combat and hires a mercenary, codenamed “Material Defender”, to fly it. The mission is to destroy the infected mines and rescue human hostages, destroying any hostile robot that gets in the way.

Descent is a 3D first-person game that puts the player at the controls of the Pyro-GX spaceship. Descent is notable in that the player travels through various interior locations (mines) but can do so in 720 degrees of movement. The ship however only moves forward and backward in any of the directions it is facing. The ship is able to use a variety of weapons scattered as power-ups throughout each level. They include: standard lasers, the Vulcan Cannon (a chaingun-like weapon), the Spreadfire Cannon (a rapidly firing, shotgun-like energy weapon), the Plasma Cannon (a rapidly firing energy weapon more suited for medium-range combat), and the Fusion Cannon (fires a ball of energy that’s more powerful the longer it is charged it up, but could destroy the ship). All of these weapons, except for the Vulcan Cannon, use the ship’s energy supply. The Pyro-PX is also capable of firing regular concussion missiles, homing missiles, proximity bombs (sits in the sky, then explodes when something gets close to it), smart missiles (more powerful homing missiles that fire out homing energy balls upon impact with their target), and Mega Missiles (the ultimate weapons of mass destruction). …
