San Francisco Rush The Rock – Alcatraz Edition

Description

For the N64 version of the arcade hit, Midway added all-new courses and shortcuts. All six courses can be run in reverse, mirrored, or mirrored and reversed. There’s even two hidden stunt courses! Graphically, the game sacrifices detail in favor of blindingly fast screen redraws.

The gameplay is very arcade-like: You fly through the air with the greatest of ease, and when you hit a wall your car bursts into flames. You can customize your car with different colors, racing stripes, tire rims and much more.

The Rock is a substantial upgrade to the original San Francisco Rush: Extreme Racing arcade game. In addition to the three original tracks (now with additional shortcuts), it includes four new extra tracks, including the famous Alcatraz Island. Also added in this update is four new cars to drive, new music tracks and an option for mirrored tracks.

Some elements of this update would appear in the Nintendo 64 version of San Francisco Rush: Extreme Racing (which was being developed simultaneously with the arcade The Rock.) …

Pac-Man World Rally

Description

In Pac-Man World Rally, up to four players race as characters from the Pac-Man series and other Namco games to be the first to win. On every track, there are Pac-Boxes containing items that the player can use to give themselves a boost or hinder their opponents. Players can perform powerslides to turn around sharp corners, receiving a quick boost of speed if performed successfully. As a player performs a powerslide, it will begin to fill their Guardian Meter; each time it fills, players will be granted a Guardian, which can be deployed to temporarily shield them from all attacks.

By driving over a fruit button, that fruit will appear on the race track; players who collect a fruit will gain access to specific shortcuts on the track, giving them the opportunity to overtake their opponents. Additionally, players can collect Pac-Dots on the track that fill their Pac-Meter; when it is full, the player can activate a temporary transformation into the Pac-Mobile, a vehicle that gives them a boost of speed and allows them to eat and temporarily incapacitate other racers. …

War Gods

Description

War Gods is a one-on-one fighting game that takes place in 3D environments. The fighter under your control can perform many different moves, and string those moves together to perform “combos.” Furthermore, the fighters all have special “finishing moves” that eliminate your opponent in some gruesome manner at the end of a match. There are 10 different fighters to choose from, all based on different ancient civilizations.

The graphics in War Gods are fairly unique. They were created by texture-mapping 3D character models with digitized photos of people. This gives them a reasonably lifelike look. …

Independence Day

Description

This arcade game is based loosely on the 1996 blockbuster movie “Independence Day.” Interspersed with cutscenes lifted from the film, the game consists of flying a jet through various missions in order to take down the gargantuan, city-destroying spaceships. This entails flying around the 3D level and taking out targets such as: communication uplinks, shield generators, the occasional alien fighter craft, and ultimately bringing down the major alien ship via a strike on its main cannon. Powerups are plentiful, such as medical packs that heal your jetcraft, bonus weapons, bonus planes, and an item that freezes enemy planes for a brief time.

Mission settings include the Grand Canyon, Washington D.C., and New York City. There are other missions that are provided on a need-to-know basis (as stated in the manual). The game also features 2-player head-to-head action via a network or null modem link. …
