Description

The story of Chaos Legion is based on a light novel of the same name, written by the Japanese author Tow Ubukata. The events begin in the year 791 A.S. (Anno Satanis). The protagonist of the game is a Knight of the Dark Glyphs named Sieg Wahrheit. His best friend, Victor Delacroix, blames him for the death of Siela, Victor’s sister and Sieg’s lover. Unable to contain his despair, Victor decides to “purify” the sins of the world by unleashing hordes of monsters and finding three sacred glyphs to resurrect the evil spirit Azrail, who would eventually obliterate all existence.

Chaos Legion is an action game with a heavy emphasis on melee combat. The game’s stand-out feature is Sieg’s ability to summon the so-called Chaos Legions. Named after various emotions (Guilt, Hatred, Malice, etc.), these Legions have different combat styles, strengths, and weaknesses. The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena includes two single player campaigns. One is a graphically enhanced version of The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay and the other, called Assault on Dark Athena, continues the story almost directly after the end of Escape from Butcher Bay with Richard B. Riddick and Johns in hibernation on board of a ship deep in space. A group of renegade mercenaries finds them and brings them on board of their giant ship called the Dark Athena where they transform people into mindless drones. Of course Johns is a too valuable target to transform so they plan to collect the bounty that is on his head after he freed Riddick from the prison. Riddick on the other hand – well he managed to evade capture and is now really pissed.

As in the first campaign, the player once again assumes the role of Riddick, controlling him a standard first person shooter fashion through the corridors of the ship. But Riddick isn’t one who runs guns blazing through the enemies. Instead the dark is his friend. Hiding in the shadows he uses his special ability to see in the dark, sneak up on enemies and perform an instant melee kill with whatever weapon he has currently equipped. This not only applies to his melee weapons that range from his fists to the newly double-carved blades but called “Ulaks” but also to the bigger stuff he’ll find on his journey like assault rifles, a mini-gun and such. …

Conflict – Desert Storm

Description

Conflict Desert Storm is a first-person/third-person shooter (the perspective can be switched by pressing a button), in which the player controls a squad of four soldiers from either the British S.A.S or American Delta Force during the first Gulf War. It has ideas borrowed from the book Bravo Two Zero and other real missions from the war.

Missions are performed behind enemy lines and have specific objectives (infiltrate a base, destroy a SAM site, assassinate an opposing general, …). Team members can be sent orders (attack, retreat, follow, stay, …) or controlled individually. On the team is Bradley, the team leader, Conners, the heavy weapons man, Jones, the explosives and anti-tank expert, and Foley, the team sniper. Each soldier has different skills that improve as they kill more enemies and gain experience. This results in them doing a better or faster job (Foley will have more stable aiming or Jones will plant C4 faster as their skills increase). In some missions, the player drives tanks or jeeps around while other squad members man the guns on the vehicle. At the end of each mission, the soldiers can be awarded medals for their bravery

Description

Lincoln Graves is a 47-year old ex-Special Forces sniper and Reggie Lang is a former FBI-heavy weapons specialist. Graves doesn’t really like Lang but they are now both agents of the CIA’s Special Activities Division and their mission is to prevent a third-world dictatorship from gaining nuclear weapons.

This mission takes the team across three continents and through hordes of bad guys. To deal with them, both Lang and Graves have access to several types of weapons from pistols over snipers to machine guns, rocket launchers and several different kinds of grenades. But they also earn upgrades for these weapons after successfully finishing a mission. The first upgrade to Graves’s 7.62m Sniper Rifle for example allows the player to fire a bullet around the corner or over low cover.

Since Lang and Graves are a team, the player is free to switch between both at any time and give orders to the currently AI-controlled comrade, including simple tasks like “Follow Me” or “Cover Me”, but they can also complete an objective by themselves or bring the player’s character back into the game when he took one bullet too much. …
