Rome – Total War

Description

370 BC. A select group of influential families have united Italy under the Roman banner. It is time for them to turn their eyes outward. You will be leading one of these families of Rome (Julii, Scipii, Brutii) for more than three centuries in an attempt to conquer most of the known world. The Julii are in control of northern Italy and they are very close to the borders of Gaul lands and the remainder of Europe. The Scipii are in control of southern Italy and Sicily. They are facing the Carthaginian people, who are one of the prime powers in the Mediterranean. And the last family, the Brutii hold the eastern part of Italy. They have already set their eyes on Greece and Macedonia, the most advanced civilizations of the ancient era. No matter which you will be choosing, your faction’s ambitions will ultimately lead you to open war against the Senate and the other Roman factions.

The game, true to the Total War series, lets you manage your empire and armies in turn-based mode. In the Imperial Campaign you command the movement of your armies and generals on a regional map comprised of Europe, northern Africa and the Middle East, managing cities, hiring spies and mercenaries and using diplomats where your military might can’t reach. When the time comes to war, the game takes you to a 3D real-time environment where you control your army directly on the field of battle and you can employ different formations and tactics using the units’ individual advantages (killing from a distance with archers, chasing routing enemies or flanking with cavalry etc.). Both modes of play let you make strategical decisions that affect your entire game. Each civilization you conquer will be added as a new playable faction. After finishing the game you will be able to choose from all the playable factions. The game has some pre-arranged historical battles for those who want a quick fight. These are the same 3D real-time battles but with pre-determined forces. …

RoboCop (2003)

Description

Robocop places you in the titanium-coated-with-kevlar boots of Alex Murphy, killed in the line of duty and resurrected as the cyborg officer Robocop. The 2003 game features a new plot not featured in any of the films. Crime is up in Neo-Detroit due to the rapid proliferation of a new designer drug “Brain Drain,” and the efforts of crime lord William Nexx to control its profitable distribution. Meanwhile, a mayoral race is heating up and getting dirty. And of course, mega-corporation OCP’s role in all this is almost certain, but unclear.

Robocop will have to get to the bottom of all of these mysteries through 9 missions. Gameplay is handled as a typical first-person-shooter, with various Robocop enhancements. His HUD is projected on screen and points out available targets. The player can mark up to three targets with a lock-on button, who Robo will then auto-aim at in sequence. Thermal vision can be activated to see through walls in a limited distance. Multiple weapons are also available, from the signature automatic pistol, to missile launchers and energy weapons. …

Redneck Rampage

Description

Redneck Rampage is a pseudo-3D first person shooter much like Duke Nukem 3D, with 2D sprites for enemies and other objects. In fact, it uses the same Build engine as Duke Nukem 3D.

Redneck Rampage also has a singularly unique setting… instead of taking place in an alien installation or secret government facility, the game is set in the backwater small town of Hickston, Arkansas.

It seems that a bunch of tabloid leather-fetish cyborg aliens have abducted the town’s stereotypical redneck inhabitants and cloned them. The aliens have also abducted Bessie, the prize pig of brothers Leonard and Bubba. As Leonard you’ll have to fight the local yokel clones as well as the aliens throughout Hickston to rescue your pig. …

Redneck Rampage Rides Again

Description

Redneck Rampage Rides Again is the sequel to Redneck Rampage and also uses the Build engine. The 12 all-new levels take players back to the alien-besieged town of Hickston. New characters include a cheerleader Daisy Mae and Frank Doyle, a biker. The game revolves around searching for Bubba and Leonard, while facing off aliens and local residents. Similar to Redneck Rampage, power-up system exists (pork rinds, cow pies, whiskey) with two scales (Dunkometer and Gunkometer) that track the performance of the players in four parts each. Every monster has to be defeated in order to progress in the level. Some of the enemies are new, including Jack O’Lope, an over-sized rodent. The players can use weapons like crossbow or shotgun in order to battle.

The soundtrack was done by Mojo Nixon, who also appeared in a cameo role. …
