Sinistar – Unleashed

Description

This is a remake of the classic ’80s arcade game Sinistar.

The player gets sucked through a wormhole into the alternate universe of the Sinistar, where his spaceship is transformed into a strange organic living spaceship. In the center of each level is a huge jumpgate that evil worker drones are busy powering up by attaching sinisite crystals to it. Once the gate is fully powered an enormous, very aggressive boss monster comes out of it: the Sinistar. The player’s job: destroy the gate before the Sinistar can get through it. If that can’t be done, at least delay the arrival of the Sinistar as long as possible, and when it does arrive: destroy the Sinistar. But it won’t be easy. Enemy fighters patrol the area. The Sinistar and the gate can only be harmed by using a special weapon, the sini-bomb.

This game has 24 levels. Almost all of them follow the structure described above, though there are a few that are different. Each level has unique creatures, and every Sinistar is different.

To power-up the player must mine asteroids for sinisite crystals. These will power the player’s weapons. …

Slave Zero

Description

Taking place 500 years in the future, the game tells the story of Lu Chen, a sinister world overlord more commonly known as the SovKhan, who rules the Earth from a massive complex called Megacity S1-9. The only resistance to the SovKhan is from an ancient order of warriors known only as the Guardians. The SovKhan’s army is nearly invincible as it is, and it is growing by the day, his most powerful units being 60-foot-tall humanoid robots called “Slaves”. The Slaves themselves are grown from a combination of artificially created cybernetic embryos and a mysterious compound called NTR95879, referred to as “dark matter” by the Guardians. Now the Guardians’ only hope of overthrowing the SovKhan and his cybernetic army lies in a single captured Slave unit, which will have the mind of a specially trained Guardian agent permanently downloaded into it. The game follows “Slave Zero” as he wages war against the SovKhan’s forces throughout every part of Megacity S1-9. …

Sacred Pools

Description

The Sacred Pools is an unreleased PC and Sega Saturn full motion video game. It was one of the first projects to be announced by the newly formed SegaSoft, and was to be a full motion video adventure game similar to the likes of Myst, seemingly set to take place across three CD-ROMs. Being technically independent from Sega, the team also planned to bring the game to the PlayStation.

The game featured at E3 1996 but was not seen afterwards. Prototypes have since been dumped.

During development the game was likely known as Rebellion. A prototype under that name has been found which shares similar video clips to The Sacred Pools (though the build of Rebellion is so early it’s hard to know if the FMVs were planned to be used in the same way). …

The game follows the life of Lt. Brenn Tantor a young officer in the Imperial Army, who after just graduating is assigned the task of finding 2 droids on tantooine. Brenn after becoming dissatisfied with the Empire joins the Rebellion. Battles take place on 9 planets each with it’s own unique environments.

The game interweaves an original story between the events of Star Wars: A New Hope and Return of the Jedi, sometimes intersecting with known Star Wars events. It is shown from the point of view of a young officer in the Imperial Navy, Brenn Tantor, who begins as a stormtrooper, but soon enough is given his own command. The first task (from the training missions) is to search for an escape pod that landed on Tatooine, and then track the droids that were inside. This is a reference to the opening scenes of Episode IV when C-3PO and R2-D2 escape the Empire via an escape pod which crashes on Tatooine. …
