Mega Man X8

Description

In the late 22nd century, humans have commenced a construction of an orbital elevator to the Moon. A Reploid named Lumine was put in charge of the project. Lumine belonged to the new generation of Reploids, which were apparently unable to become Mavericks (i.e. turn hostile towards humans). Soon thereafter, Lumine was kidnapped by unknown assailants. The team of Maverick Hunters, composed of X, Axl, and Zero, must pursue the abductors and find what they were truly after. However, they will also have to deal with familiar enemies from the past…

Mega Man X8 is similar in visual style to earlier Mega Man X games, moving away from the 3D gameplay elements introduced by its predecessor. As in classic Mega Man games, the player is free to tackle the levels in any order, and must defeat a boss at the end of each. The player is able to control X, Axl, and Zero, which are distinguished by their gameplay style: X is able to equip body parts and armor, Axl specializes in guns and can also hover and glide in the air, while Zero focuses on short-range attacks. …

KISS – Psycho Circus – The Nightmare Child

Description

Wicked Jester, a band of four, are headed for a Friday night gig at The Coventry, a rundown dive outside of town. They arrive only to find the parking lot deserted, the club seemingly dead. The band’s members: Pablo Ramirez, Andy Chang, Gabriel Gordo and Patrick Scott, stepping from their van, are startled by a voice from the shadows. She offers them four tickets to a circus — tonight’s the grand finale! Having nothing better to do, the four accept and the nightmare begins.

Based on characters from comic book author Todd McFarlane, KISS Psycho Circus: The Nightmare Child brings the horror and carnage of the Psycho Circus to the PC in a shooter format. There are two-dozen creatures to battle with and three classes of weapons to use, each with four specific types: melee (beast claws, thornblade, twister and punisher), common (zero cannon, magma cannon, windblade and scourge) and ultimate (stargaze, galaxion, spirit lance and draco). In addition to the weaponry, temporary power-ups and instant items such as health, attack and defense powers are available. …

Panzer Dragoon

Description

Panzer Dragoon is set in a distant oppressive future. The Dark Dragon needs to be destroyed, and you, Keil Fluge, are aboard a dragon and armed with a powerful weapon to do so.

In this shooter, you ride an armored dragon on a predefined path with 360º of freedom (you can rotate and zoom in and out). This path takes you through an aquatic setting, through a tunnel and over a forest, and into combat with giant worms, wasps and flies. Each level ends with a boss. In a idea influenced by the film Blade Runner, cutscenes use a fusion language combining elements of German, Latin and Japanese. …

Lost Planet 2

Description

Lost Planet 2 takes place ten years after the events depicted in Lost Planet: Extreme Condition. Thanks to Wayne’s action, the planet E.D.N. III isn’t just a world of ice anymore. Many parts have already dried up. Jungles with lush streams of water have grown and dry deserts full of sand popped up. But life on E.D.N. III still isn’t easy. The Akrid, although bothered by the heat, are still a very serious threat. And NEVEC is working on a new evil plan while the other factions are engaged in civil war over thermal-energy. While it’s no longer necessary to survive the cold, it is still needed to power all the machinery on the plant and as such very valuable.

The campaign is divided into six episodes, each putting the player into the shoes of a different faction. While at first the episodes don’t seem to be connected, it soon comes apparent that it is once again up to the player to save E.D.N. III. But as opposed to the first game, he doesn’t roam the levels alone anymore. Instead the campaign is fully focused on a cooperative experience, allowing up to four friends to engage in the fight for the planet. If no humans are available, the player can call up to three bots on his side. …

Sinistar – Unleashed

Description

This is a remake of the classic ’80s arcade game Sinistar.

The player gets sucked through a wormhole into the alternate universe of the Sinistar, where his spaceship is transformed into a strange organic living spaceship. In the center of each level is a huge jumpgate that evil worker drones are busy powering up by attaching sinisite crystals to it. Once the gate is fully powered an enormous, very aggressive boss monster comes out of it: the Sinistar. The player’s job: destroy the gate before the Sinistar can get through it. If that can’t be done, at least delay the arrival of the Sinistar as long as possible, and when it does arrive: destroy the Sinistar. But it won’t be easy. Enemy fighters patrol the area. The Sinistar and the gate can only be harmed by using a special weapon, the sini-bomb.

This game has 24 levels. Almost all of them follow the structure described above, though there are a few that are different. Each level has unique creatures, and every Sinistar is different.

To power-up the player must mine asteroids for sinisite crystals. These will power the player’s weapons. …

Slave Zero

Description

Taking place 500 years in the future, the game tells the story of Lu Chen, a sinister world overlord more commonly known as the SovKhan, who rules the Earth from a massive complex called Megacity S1-9. The only resistance to the SovKhan is from an ancient order of warriors known only as the Guardians. The SovKhan’s army is nearly invincible as it is, and it is growing by the day, his most powerful units being 60-foot-tall humanoid robots called “Slaves”. The Slaves themselves are grown from a combination of artificially created cybernetic embryos and a mysterious compound called NTR95879, referred to as “dark matter” by the Guardians. Now the Guardians’ only hope of overthrowing the SovKhan and his cybernetic army lies in a single captured Slave unit, which will have the mind of a specially trained Guardian agent permanently downloaded into it. The game follows “Slave Zero” as he wages war against the SovKhan’s forces throughout every part of Megacity S1-9. …
